There are many different sight word lists. The most recognizable is the Dolche sight word list. There are 6 different lists within it. They start at Pre Kindergarten and work up to noun list. Each list has a different number of words. These words are considered the most common and if children can read them, then in conjunction with phonics, they should be able read most texts.
